Who can qualify for a scholarship? Scholarships are awarded to families in need and generally available for 3rd through 12th graders living in Oregon or Washington.  Our goal is to support local families in our area. There are some exceptions for out-of-state families.

 

What kind of camps do you provide scholarships for? We finance all sports and activities from cheerleader and dance camps, horse back riding to football and basketball camps.

 

Is there a restriction on the location of the camp? We generally provide scholarships for camps located in Oregon or Washington.  Our goal is to support local camps in our area. There are some exceptions for out-of-state camps.

 

How are scholarships distributed? We typically send a payment directly to the camp with the kid’s information.  Coaches, teachers/counselors, family members, friends are responsible for the actual camp registration.

 

How long does it take to know when a kid qualifies for a scholarship?  Once we receive your request, we typically can decide within 1-2 weeks. 

 

Is there a minimum or maximize scholarship amount? We generally provide scholarships up to $200 per kid.  Scholarships can be a full payment for a camp or partial payment to help reduce the cost for families.

 

Is there a deadline to apply for a scholarship? We suggest to apply ASAP or by March 31st as many summer camps fill up quickly.  

 

Where does Camps for Kids get their funding from? The main source of the scholarship funds that we raise is from a private fundraising event that we do once every two years in August with former players of the founder, friends and families, and private business and public leaders who want to support our mission statement.  We also rely on the public to donate to us online.

 

How much of the donations are spent on scholarships? The majority of the donations after basic operational expenses that we receive are spent on scholarships to support our mission statement.
